Meet Dr. Sandra Okonkwo, MD
Meet Dr. Sandra Okonkwo, MD, a compassionate, board-certified Internal Medicine physician dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based care. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and has completed the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (TOUD) program.
Dr. Sandra completed her residency training at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York City, and brings extensive experience in primary care and hospital medicine. Her broad clinical background allows her to care for patients with a wide range of health needs while providing thoughtful, comprehensive, and patient-centered treatment.
At Zean Recovery, she provides personalized treatment designed to help patients safely begin and sustain long-term recovery, including FDA-approved medications such as Suboxone® when clinically appropriate.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Sandra has a strong passion for community health, preventive care, and helping people take a proactive approach to their overall well-being. She believes good healthcare goes beyond treating illness—it means building trust, educating patients, and supporting healthier lives within the community.
As a mother of four, Dr. Sandra understands the importance of family, balance, and having a strong support system. Outside of medicine, she enjoys working out, spending time with her family, and listening to Afrobeats music.
Her approach to care is simple: listen without judgment, treat with compassion, and help every patient take the next step toward a healthier future.
